Roof insulation
Takes up less space, delivers higher insulation value
TONZON Roof insulation delivers higher insulation value and takes up less space! In winter, it limits heat loss to the exterior. While in summer, roof insulation actually keeps the heat out. Another benefit of TONZON Roof insulation is that it makes a roof windproof. So insulating a roof not only saves a lot of energy, it also gets rid of draughts in the house.
Insulation value - TONZON Roof Insulation
.
Thicker layers of air deliver higher insulation value in summer than in winter. This is because warm air does not easily flow downwards in summer, but does rise easily in winter. With thinner air layers, the difference becomes increasingly smaller. The optimal air layer depth for winters with severe, freezing temperatures depends on the slope of the roof. Read more about insulation value here. In summer, a thicker layer of air will deliver increased insulation value. This can be seen in the table below.

Soundproofing
Create a perfectly-sealed, airtight construction by insulating your roof with TONZON Thermosheets. Thermosheets come in a variety of lengths and widths. Water-based glue is included, which allows the edges to be glued to the structure. This creates an airtight insulation layer. If the battens and plasterboard (just) don't touch the surrounding roof insulation structure, sounds from the outside will be damped. In practice, the soundproofing provided by this structure is more than adequate to insulate against normal noise levels (e.g. traffic noise).
To insulate against solar heat, 3 layers of Thermosheets, trapping as much air as possible, are sufficient. These each contain an air layer of at least 5 centimetres, making up a total depth of at least 15 centimetres. This will keep a bedroom above freezing point without heating. For a heated attic room, the available air space can be divided into 4 or 5 layers. Finally, for a sauna space, or if you require maximum insulation in any event, divide the available space into air layers of optimum depth, depending on the slope of the roof.
Frequently asked questions
Selected for your convenience
To prevent condensation on the foil and deterioration of battens and woodwork, start with a layer of air. This can be done by mounting cold bridge breakers (moisture-insensitive blocks of XPS). The first layer of Thermosheet is then stuck to these blocks. Check the page below for more instructions.
