Vapour Retarding Insulating Foil
TONZON Vapour Retarding Insulation Foil is an extremely strong, unique foil that is multifunctional
. It can be used for vapour control and/or insulation. Thanks to its very high vapour barrier performance, it is the
ideal vapour retardant for combining with other insulation materials that must remain dry to retain their insulating properties. By trapping some air on one or both sides of the foil
the insulation value is further increased. The special surfaces of the foil stop
almost all heat radiation. This special TONZON foil is thus multifunctional
and usable as an insulating foil.
Vapour retarding
A good vapour barrier is very important to prevent water vapour from entering a structure,
which can lead to unwanted condensation when it cools off on the cold side. A
layer of TONZON Vapour Barrier Insulation Foil has a moisture resistance (µd) of no less than
180 metres. This is much more than the vapour retardant foils normally used in construction. This foil is a better alternative, in all situations, than standard vapour-retardant
foils.
Insulating effect
The insulating effect arises as the foil prevents almost all heat loss via through radiation. It can be used to make warm objects radiate less heat.
And even to reflect heat. The foil is ideally suited for use with dry liners, where it is combined with an air cavity. Here, it can improve the insulation value of the material by up to 40% in some cases, especially with thinner insulation.
There are numerous other applications for this foil, including radiator foil, bath insulation and
sun protection.
Attaching the foil
The foil has a very high tensile strength, but can tear. When fixing by mechanical means (staples, plugs, etc.), it is therefore recommended to reinforce the foil at the fixing point, e.g. with a TONZON foil reinforcer. The foil is also
extremely thin and light. For this reason, it can also be attached using
magnets, for example. Other fixing options include glue and tape.
The advantage is that these methods ensure an airtight join.
