Foil reinforcers
The foil from which the Thermos cushions are made is exremely strong, but very thin. At the location of a staple or plug, the foil can be vulnerable to tearing. The foil is therefore locally reinforced using a tear-resistant foil reinforcer. The reinforcer is sticky on one side, under a removable protective layer. The foil reinforcer is folded double around the foil, after which it can be penetrated by a staple or plug. The distance between foil reinforcers should be about 125 cm. As an attachment point is needed at both the beginning and the end of a run, approximately 2 foil reinforcers should be used per metre for the attachment of thermos cushions. So, for short runs, a few more will be needed, while for longer runs fewer will suffice. With wooden floors, the underside of the thermos cushions are usually also stapled to the underside of the joists. So wooden floors require 4 foil reinforcers per metre of thermos cushion.
